R12 - Freeze12 - R134 -- what's the best?

Anybody ever use 414B refridgerant? I went to a local shop and the guy said it is R12 compatible and I wouldn't need to convert anything. He says he's been using it for years....

A couple years or so ago, some cat organized a Freeze-12 group purchase. I got in on it because my AC wasn't cooling like it should. I got a case and a conversion kit.

Instead of refilling it, I took it to the dealer and they said there was a leak. They also refilled it with R12 and some dye, so that when I bring it back they'll be able to find the leak.

I still have that case of Freeze-12. I was going to use it the next time I needed a refill. But maybe I'll just stick to R12. If anybody is interested in a case of Freeze-12 and conversion kit, keep an eye on my eBay auctions; it may be listed there soon.

anyone ever hear of this refrigerant called hot shot? my cousin who is an hvac tech keeps telling me about it, he said it works just as good as r12, about the same price as r134a and you do not have to change oils. ill see him tomarrow, ill ask him again. he uses it in all his vehicles.

Hot shot is a 414B refriderant that I asked about above - I am also curious as to whether anyone has tried it and what they think...

Mixing Freeze 12 with R12

Can you add Freeze 12 to a system that still contains some R12?

Yes, you can add Freeze12 to top off a r12 system. I just converted to Freeze12 from 134a and it cools alot better than it did with the 134a. I had enough with the car being almost comfortable with the 134.
