The 76 station that RacerX listed in Yorba Linda is no longer there; it was torn down 2 months ago. Ever since ConocoPhilllips bought out Unocal, finding Unocal stations with good gas is getting more difficult. That said, there is a 76 station in Newport Beach in a shopping center off of Bison Ave (there's a Ralph's there.) I was there three weeks ago and 100 out of their dedicated 100 pump was selling for $4.50.
Also:
(1) Mitchell's Gas Station on the corner of W. Chapman Ave & Pixley (?). At any rate, it's 3 blocks west of the Orange Metrolink station on Chapman Ave. Plus, you can't miss the big red, white & blue sign out front by the sidewalk that screams "WE SELL VP RACE FUEL HERE!" They have two pumps: one that dispenses VP Motorsport 103 unleaded at $4.25/gallon, and another that doles out VP 110 leaded at $4.85 gallon. The 103 you can pump straight into your car, the 110 you must BYOGC.
(2) Nickey's Petroleum
925 Lakeview Ave
Placentia, CA 92870
(714)547-4123 x 112
They are located between La Palma Ave. and Orangethorpe Ave., before you reach the RR tracks. Exit the 91 freeway at Lakeview Ave. and head north, past Kaiser Permanente hospital, over the riverbed, and your first traffic light is La Palma Ave. It's out 1/4 mile past La Palma, on the left hand side. From my latest invoice dated 11/21, Nickey's sells Sunoco 110 for $26.51 for 5 gallons once taxes etc., are figured in. Nickey's is a large commercial fuel depot, and there is a large Sunoco race fuel sign that you can see from the street. You go in to the main lobby and speak to the nice lady at the front receptionist desk, pay your $$, then take your invoice out to the yard. Minimum purchase is 5 gallons; BYOGC. I plan on getting ahold of their sales manager John Kearns to see about getting some Sunoco Maximal (117) if they can.
(3) VP C16: In the San Diego area there is VW Paradise in San Marcos, a big sand rail/VW shop. There web address is
www.vwparadise.com . Would recommend that you call ahead to make sure they have it; the last time I went I bought the last 10 gallons of C16 they had that weekend.
(4) Another source for VP C16: Fiber-Tek in Santee, off the 63 near Prospect Ave. Another big-time sand rail outfit.
(5) Yet another source for VP C16:
John Payne (a circle track shop, I think)
333 E Live Oak
Irwindale, CA 91706
(626)357-7056. Located near the Irwindale racetrack.
