It wasnt my GN but my beater 82 Regal that looked like a GN.The car was all grey primer with the GN hood, rims and a 84 & up header panel on it. I parked it on the street one night becouse my parents were having a refridgerater delivered to my house while there new house was being built.NOTE the car had NO battery or GAS in it:D The next morning around 5:30 we get a knock on our front door,it was our neighbor. He aked if I still had that older Buick,I said yes.He said it was in the middle of a four lane road just sitting there. I guess they pushed it up the street, tried starting it and got pissed, and left it there. I guess I was lucky, they only broke the column on it.I srapped the car about a month later[kept the GN stuff] I wasnt lucky with her 85 Cutlass,it`s still not found[8 yrs]. I NO LONGER live there:)

My first GN was stolen in March 92 from in front on my house while I slept. I was living in Kearny, NJ then and at the time (maybe still even now) that area was the stolen car capital of the US (Newark, Irvington, Jersey City, etc.) Never saw that car again. Just found out via Carfax about a year ago that it was recovered and a salvage title issued in Jun 92.

It's quite a sad moment when you see an empty spot where your pride and joy once was.:(

ALMOST
Back in 93 I was getting ready to go to the Nats in Bowling green and I had a bunch of parts taken off of my motor and the battery was out of the car. A friend of my G/Fs son broke into the house and took my keys and took the cover off the car and tried to start it and when it didn't start, he opened the hood and saw there was no way he was taking my car with half the motor gone.
But just the idea of that little BA$tard stealing my GN still PI$$ES me OFF.
If he would of taken it and I found him, I would STILL be in JAIL.
Tarey D.

Did have my 78 3/4 ton Chevy 4x4 stolen and never got that back so I know how you guys feel.

Back in july i almost lost mine! i was driving on a busy road at 8.00pm and all the sudden this black guy runs up to my passenger side door jumps half way in and goes get out the f'in car now.i looked at him and told him to f off.i punched it took off he went flyin,i went sideways nailed the car in front of me.took off went to police station i got arrested for hit and run, until a witness called in and got me free.some one got there plate but i havent heard nothing sense. so cause some ones jealousy i got to fix my car now insurance says its my fault.go figure.at least i still got it.but it makes me wanna sell it not worth gettin killed.probly thought my car was a gnx i have x wheels x flares and vents, very shiny paint. its a shame reading all these stories but gotta be carefull..lata greg

My heart goes out to anybody and everybody who has ever gone through this. Some of these accounts are truly heartbreaking and gutwretching. No one should ever have to have the heartache of going out and finding an empty space where a car used to be.
My hat is off to all of you guys who have lost t-r cars, or anything for that matter. If I have a choice, I would rather take a chance in court for shooting someone, even unarmed, even though I would probably lose, that to watch someone drive off in any of my cars. Even tools. Thievery is the lowest form of life there is.

Stolen Nov 4 2002 (recovered)

MY 87 GN was stolen last Nov, recovered 2 days later. They hit about 9 houses on my block, but I was the unluckly one whos car they took. It was found in Washington Park, IL. They put it in a ditch after they took it our for some joy rides. $6000 later I had it back on the road, most of that paid by the insurace company. I just glad to have it back. I'm the orginal owner.

I had mine taken for the night. Called the cops and it was parked in the neighbors drive way. I had a couple of drinks and when I got home my car was gone the cop seemed to think that I just parked it in the wrong driveway 100 yards away from my house walked to my house and called them. . It was my little punk nephew that stolled it and got away with it:mad: .

stolen in 95 from a lit, fenced, camera watched parking lot during the evening. 6pm or so. Had tools, clothes, cellphone, etc in it. Oldschool bagphone so it wasn't worth much. Trunk busted, driver window busted, collar busted, motor grenaded. only 5 gn's registered in memphis back then. cops found it within 48 hours, but in much sadder shape. My car's been stolen, been in like 2 or 3 accidents now (first ones were minor, not mine. only 1 from me). gonna keep the bastard until I die if I can tho

Stolen Oct 10 1998
gone for 6 hours
weld prostars / JL soundsystem gone

The thieves ran it out of gas due to my digital fuel guage reading about 5 gallons higher than normal. When I parked the car it was almost out of gas.

They had to abandon it and take what they could.

I was damn lucky.
Still have the car.

Mine was stold in April 86 just before BG. It was stold on Monday morning and the jerk was caught speeding with it on Wed.

I guess other than hurting the motor what really sucked was the jerk got a 2 year sentence but was out in 6 months. He was out before I finished repairing the car :(

I dont know if this happens to anyone else but ever since my GN was stolen I have Nightmares more than once a month about my car being stolen. I wake up and honestly think its gone then I check the window and its still there... happen to anyone else????

a friend who is a Psychologist told me its Post Traumatic Stress and I should actually consider getting help for it.

Here I am 3 years after my GN got stolen and I still have nightmares about it... I dunno... :(

I see how it could affect you...... My dad's second GN (he has owned 3 GNs and now has an '86 T-type) was stolen right out in front of our old house during the late night early morning hours and I can still remember hearing my mom say "Oh my God!" when she looked out the window and saw it was gone....... This was around 7 AM that she saw it was gone and when she told my dad he was half asleep and figured she was joking, but when he knew she was for real he ran outside to find a pair of gloves on the ground:( Now after seeing this and hearing all the stories on here I don't want to park my car anywhere else besides a garage and even then who knows what could happen (I've heard of cars still getting stolen by these scumbags breaking into a garage)......

Just sucks that you can't have anything nice these days without having to worry about it getting stolen, but I guess that's the way it is and it won't ever change! Sad, but true:(

A while back when I lived in the suburbs of Long Island my 1985 Monte SS was stolen just twenty minutes after I parked it in front of my house. The car had a new 350, a Muncie four-speed, GN rear, good suspension, etc. 36K miles on it...sweet car. Never saw it again, ever.
About a year later, my 1978 Malibu with a 454 was swiped from my driveway. Being more aware, I had completely disabled the car when I parked it (took the main trigger wire from the MSD 6AL WITH ME INSIDE and installed the Club on the steering wheel). But those muthafokkers still got my car somehow. Never saw that car again, either.
Our most recent misadventure involves our T-Type. We had just installed the new engine and transmission and took the car to Atlanta to attend a Dentist's convention for my wife's work. The fancy hotel we stayed out ran out of room in their parking garage and suggested the garage across the street. We parked in a large conspicuous spot where we were safely out of door ding range and I took the ol' fuel pump hot wire fuse with me. Thank God.
The next morning we returned to the car to find the driver's door lock pried out (ugh), the column destroyed, and the stereo, dash bezel and heater controls mangled. The (insert nasty adjective here) thieves also pried out the trunk lock (ugh) but failed to get the trunk open. My car was hurt but at least we still have it. We received a fair settlement from State Farm, but I'm still pissed. The hotel offered us a free stay and a bottle of wine for our hassles. Nice.

geez, how can something like that not mean so much to you? well maybe it dosnet, but to me, both of my cars have been like children. and this el camino i had was my first car, after i got it i put about 15k into it. a friend taught me how to build motors, and he stood over my sholder and taught me how to build motors, when i did something wrong, -smack- across the back of the head... lol, not really but he would show me how to do it correctly and i would then do it. i got it right, eventually, his son built me a 700-R4 for the car, and he also made custom exhaust for the car (he was an exhaust man).

so i had a big connection with the car, so when it was stolen i felt like i lost a part of me, then when i got the car back, i felt like a part of me was killed..

here is the car:

Lost my GN a few years ago....strange feeling to walk out and find nothing in the drive. Was lucky enough to get it back later in the day with a busted column and no stereo gear.

The cars got a Steadfast after that, but, nothing stops the tow trucks.
