Thanks John,
I've read lots of your posts, you seem like a good person to
do business with and I always like to keep the business "In the family" so to speak, so lets talk about those tires. I will e-mail you
directly with the specifics
I have used the sport shifter in truck od conversions. It is "ok" but for a GN I dont think it would be my first choice. They are ok for trucks with a long floor.A little to "goudy" for a car, as they are taller than most. But , they are "ok" .
Well I'm gonna have to jump on Bruces side here, I dang near blew up my 70 Z-28 with a Mr Gasket Ratchet type shifter. I just havent had good luck with them. No flaming intended. I have a B&M pro-Stick in my GN now, I'm having a new console plate made for it even as we speak. The thing I like most about a gated shifter is the fact that you can feel the shifter moving your cable into the next gear, it's a very positive motion. When you bang a ratchet into second and it pops back to the straight up and down position, you are just hoping it actually did it's job. The Pro-Stick can be ordered with the 200-4R gate plate. I can send out some pictures through e-mail of the install, but like I said the console plate isn't done yet. Just let me know, Spectre5050@Yahoo.com . - BB
This is how we do them. Back lit and all. The price shown is a drive in drive out price. Alot more work than you would think to make perfect. The one shown is Shawn Miles' out of Boise Idaho.
thank you for the kind words sir. also, the vendors of TurboBuick.com surely appreciate that type of courtesy! i will await your e-mail and will be happy to provide you with the best possible prices and best personalized customer service. take care...
that's my shifter in my car and......................................
it kicks assssss
thanks agian bruce the tranny is still kicking you into the back seat on shifts (the most heard comments in my car are "hey nice monte" by passers by and "holy sheet what is this trans" by the person in the pass seat
I have the B&M Pro Ratchet and would not have anything else. Took the Pro Stick out 5 years ago and would not have another one. 5 Years with the Pro Ratchet and no problems. Detent type shifters are junk IMO. Gate shifters are ok if you like them. I dont.
Regarding the install on any aftermarket shifter: Does it matter whether you leave the mechanical linkage for the stock column shifter connected or not? I've heard some say you should but don't really understand why.
I don't think you need the "cover" for your application,
as the shifter will probably be underneath your console
top plate. The cover is for applications that will leave the
shifter assy out in the open. I'm not sure, but you may
have to modify or purchase a fabricated top plate.
Maybe BruceWE4 has a custom top plate for sale.
