I keep going through solenoids. I just purchased one a month ago (or so) and the same thing happened again ( a tear in the rubber end of the actuator). The lastest solenoid worked when i put it in. I use my tr as a daily driver.... i have been noticing my boost going a bit hay wire when i get on it getting on the highway. Could there be too much vacuum that is causing the rubber piece to tear? Any insight will be much appreciated!

i'm refering to the solenoid that is in between the alky pump and the engine. i have a hot air so my alky kit has the solenoid to keep the meth from pulling all out at once! lol! so the actuator inside of the solenoid has a tear in the rubber grommet at the end of it. The same thing happened to my first solenoid....starting to think it has something to do with the vacuum the car is making (if that makes sense) lol! thanks!

I've never had one of those fail. Fact that it's happened to you twice means something in your setup is creating the problem.

It's either heat related or chemical reaction.

Send me solenoid see if I can tell

Where is the solenoid mounted?

thanks Julio! I will send both to you this week so you can compare and i will email you a pic of where it is mounted!

please post the pictures just incase others have or could run into this problem. especially if its a mounting issue.

i spoke with Julio and the solenoid is on its way... He said it should be fine from heat. I have it mounted on the passenger side inner fender in between the map sensor and methanol tank. thanks guys!

i will post the verdict when he lets me know!!!

I'm waiting for a call back from Alcon which makes this piece. They're in California..

In the meantime the valve has an in/out stamped on it. Is the "IN" coming from the filter and is the "OUT" going to the nozzle?

The stamp is located above the 1/4 npt thread below the coil part..

Wonder if its hooked up backwards it could be creating this? The rubber seal is BUNA-N which should be perfect with methanol according to tech sheets..

As many of these I have sold, never a failure. Doesnt mean it cant happen.. fact it happens twice within a few months.. now its time to figure out whats up :D

I'll post back when I hear something :D

thanks Julio!!! i didn't hook up the first solenoid but i did hook up the second one. I hooked the line coming from the pump to the "IN" and hooked the line that goes to engine in the "out" (not entirely sure if that was correct or not). the second one tested good (the car shut off at idle when i hit test button).

methanol in my tank.

black methanol in my tank. methanol was clear at one point. not sure if something got in it or what. i have siphoned out the stuff and will be purging the system tonight.

First to have a solenoid problem and its seals. First I ever heard of that the alcohol has turned black.

Think we know what killed the seals on the solenoid ;)
