READ THIS!! Got the rear end done. need speedo help!

Got the rear end rebuilt, put 3.42 gears in and she goes now. My only problem well problems is the car still shakes, and my speedo is WAY off. Is changing the speedometer gears in the tranny hard?


OH, I have my old gears out and I cant find the markings that say what they are, where do I look????

the markings are on the outer edge of the ring gear. it will
be two numbers (ex. 41-11) to get the ratio just divide the
larger number by the smaller number. if you can't find the
numbers count the teeth on the ring gear then the pinion
then divide. just one other idea on the shake. put the car
in drive and hold the brakes hard. then start givin it gas.
see if you have a shake then.

MARINES185 thanks for the response. I'll look for that number, I want to klnow so I can try to sell them and so I can tell the tranny shop so they have an Idea of what speedometer gear I need.

About the shake I've tried putting the brakes on when it shakes and it really doesnt seem to go away that much, well a little because the car is slowing down. I'll give it a try. I have a bad feeling it's one of the tires/wheels........
