I need some numbers from some of you who have already been through this.
I just changed the plugs to UR5's gapped at .032 - This stopped my stumbling at higher boosts [I attest that to boost blowing out the spark of my cr43ts gapped at .035] OK Problem 1 solved. Next. I'm new to Alky - Yesterday I would do burnouts and stage - try to build boost - green light - mash on the gas and fall flat on my face. I think I solved that problem. I think to much alky was sprayin in my burn out [Sorry Julio, been procrastinating on hooking up controller wire] so anyway took care of that. Now I was running 21lbs of boost through my 60-1 and V-4. at 45-46 psi f/p. with controller set to about 1:30-2:00. Turbo Tweak chip w/ 19/18 deg. No KR at high gear but EGT climbing fast so I let off before it could reach 1600. Just to play around I turned wastegate 1/2 turn. [which netted more desirable 24-25 lbs] and turned f/p up to 48psi controller set to about 2:00. Had to let off EGT Climbing very fast. ---------- SO HERE'S THE ? I know there are people running a relatively close combo - What f/p, boost, timing...etc. are you running, any hints or suggestions. I would like to be able to run consistantly fast [low 12's-high 11's] and NOT change when I leave the track. TIA

Oh yeah I also just put in new bosch 1 wire O2 sensor in, too. [waiting on delco's in the mail]

1500-1600 is not abnormal, but when I see them climbing to 1650 and 1700's is really worrysome.

What were your O2's at the end of the run?

Around 1600. My EGT [autometer phantom] maxes out at 1600. So i get paranoid when I see it get close.

I lifted so my Scanmaster recorded something like a 600 but it may have been more like 760 or higher b/c I didn't have any knock on the high end [21 lbs boost]

Oh I was always told that if you get past 1600 you'll melt something. Guess NOT! hey what kinda egt guage do you have? and what boost, f/p and chip are you running.

I run a digital mulimeter type guage on mine. Alky wont bring EGT's down, fuel pressure will. Alky brings down the KR and lets you run egt's that are way high without KR.

740-750's is mid 1600's, 750-760's is 1600, 760-770's is mid 1500's, 770-790's low 1500's..etc...

My car is fastest in the 1650 range. but KR spikes EGT's..so to be safe I tune around 1600's and if I get a little knock on shifts or?? the spiking will not go higher than 1650's--If you run 1650's..you gat some KR, your over 1700 land.. thats the barrier I dont like to be at..like boost..some run 30+ PSI..I jusr dont want to push it there..

If you dont hook that violet wire up, it will be sluggish out of the hole..there is a reason to hook it up.. typically when you experience it dogging out the hole..you are more inclined to connect it :D Your bro already figured where to splice it in..

Chip my own, red 50's, thrasher 50's, they all respond a little different. The thrasher leans out on the top and makes some power..but you have to watch the FP with it.

HTH..

So is it safe to say that as long as there is no KR that you dont have to worry too much about EGT. Hey Julio how much f/p do you run and what are your settings on your controller?

Just enough to get no KR. Too much and it will hamper your top end. Turn it down until you see a little "tickle the knock sensor" and then add a little to get it down to zero. if your converter is locked and your picking up 20+ MPH from 1/8 mph to 1/4 mph your getting close. Top tune is typically 25 mph increase from 1/8-1/4.. So if the car at the 1/8 is at 90 MPH, then your 1/4 mile trap should be 110-115.. typically. Some cars pickup 30 MPH..

Fuel pressure is chip dependant..so what I use has no bearing on what you should use.

Settings on my controller are around the 1-2 o'clock position.
Depending on heat, weather, humidity, etc.. I have some cars that theyre controllers are just barely cracked past the turnon point..just depends..

If you have no KR..keep the hammer down
:D

Up the boost, up the timing , up up up...till you find the limit.

;)

Julio, do you think with my combo I can have my 11 sec. STREET car w/ 24ibs on 93 octane. Have you upped the voltage on your turn on points? Most of my chips are for 45 psi static. But i'm kinda leary of running 24 lbs of boost on just 45 psi of f/p 93 octane is this a possible scenario w/ your controller NOT maxed out?

Damm close for sure.

Sticky tires makes the 11's, all 60ft. for sure.

My fuel pressure is 45psi., extender extreme and 55's, 24 psi. boost and EGT is Westach probe and Percys meter. Dual input with peak hold etc.

TA62 turbo egts were 1600.

PTE51 and 25 psi. boost and 26* timing were 1740 and 3KR*.

PTE51 and 25 psi. boost and 24* timing were 1680 and flying. :)

I can't 60 ft. however.

Yeah i know if I could hook up or even launch i know i would pick up a lot of et/mph. Most of my 60' times are 2.2's and that is w/o any boost at launch. my best et so far is 12.5 and my highest mph is 110.85. All w/ full weight limited w/full tank and spare. But now i'm tryin to tune it for consistency. I'm running a turbotweak chip [19/18 timing] now and 24lbs with 45psi fuel pressure is scary. [I tend to baby my car] ...Especially since my EGT guage only reads to 1600 - how the hell can I tune with that...looks like I wasted $150. Anybody know of a 2 1/16 or 2 1/8" guage that reads higher and possibly has a memory.

Hey the only waste is when you dont learn anything..

I dont know why you are worried about the 45 PSI fuel pressure. remember at 24 PSI you fuel pressure will be 69 PSI.

If your o2's look good, your car doesnt knock, and pulls like a mofo..your there. Again up the boost and up the fuel pressure a little. You'll know when you start getting KR no matter how much alky you spray. Then back it down, lean it out..its takes some seat time to get everything dialed in..

Get some MT slicks on 15x8 wheels..launch at 10 PSI, and you'll be dang close.

Try and get your boost a little higher on 1st and 2nd, and drop it a little on third.. tune for being on the edge of getting KR. Again drop the alky pressure till you see a minor amount of KR..at that point figure if you need more fuel or more alky..its a balance between the two to trim the car out. And dont expect McDonalds..it takes a little work...its more work to keep it in the 11's when you get there..and no mods to the car without follow up at the track. I wont change an airfilter :D without checking back to back. Tune for maximum MPH. To get into the 11's with a 2.0 60 foot, you'll need 118-119 MPH. With a 1.70 about 113-114 approx.

Your 2 1/16 guage question..dunno.

Tune tune tune..you'll notice my kit supplies enough alky to drown your motor..so if you overboost..it will saves it.. keep the knob to a minimum..just enough ;) to get the KR out..and watch the MPH go up. my 51 I run it 26-27 PSI through the traps with a low timing chip.. will get 117-118 typically.

Dont worry..it'll sink in.. :D

Grainger sells the meter for 75 bucks. The probe..do a search under EGT meter. Steve Monroe put a link up..
