Will the rear disc setup on the 1979-1981 trans am and formula firebird ws6 cars work on the 10 bolt, 8.5 rear end in our cars? If so, has anyone done this conversion? Any info is appreciated.
Yes, but the rear calipers and the parking brake built in are an issue. It's easier and cheaper to use the 2000 (and up) F body rear disc set up. At the top of this section you'll find a sticky with brake and suspension links that should help you out.
