how hard is it for a novice to rebuild a 200-4R completely? i am an experienced tech, got most of my ase's lol, and the hardest for me were auto trans and electrical... lol

anyway...i have a gn trans with a custom pan that has been sitting for nearly 5 years... i assume there is either hunny or glue in there, and im willing to bet the clutches and such are not in the best of shape...

so... what do i do?

You're no to far from CK performance in NY. He's got a rebuild book on his site with all the tips and tricks to keep you safe. He's on the board as chris718 so you might want to look him up to ask him some questions. He really knows what he's doing.

I live 18 miles away from, and wok 6 miles away from Level 10, but I just cant afford them!!! lol...

Do you know the website for Chris, or do I just look up CK? He sounds real familiar.... I have been out of the buick game for over 2 years now and my memory is shot!!! I think I may have met him, or at least I could have used his resources before... hmmmm... lol

thanks!!!

not to start a fight on here but i have dealt with a few guys from down your way and they say level 10 trannys suck as far as 2004r trannys go!i also have a car that had 1 of their trannys with about 10,000 miles on it and it was flaring before i got it!

If you read the thread, he isn't thinking about using them, he's looking to do the job him self so he can save some money. Chris has the best book out there as well as the maker of the billet parts for the 2004r. You really need to talk to him sometime. I think you'll be suprise.

i agree with you 100% about CK ! i was just warning him on what i was told by other gn/regal guys from ny/nj area about level 10 & the 2004r. i am in ct so i am not terribly far from all the people mentioned,

thanks guys.... i threw level 10 out there because they were the only ones local to me other than CK!!

Thanks very much for the info!!!!

Hey John, give me a call. I will be happy to discuss what it will take for you to build your transmission yourself and make sure you don't buy parts foolishly.

I forgot you were in the same area David. My bad. I don't go above the Mason Dixon line anymore.

Personal experience with Level 10 here. I had met the guys a few times years ago when the Buicks were still considered "new" technology. Nice bunch of folks. Finally decided to have them do my trans after I got burned with a POS from the faux Art Carr (Didn't know the real Art Carr had sold the name and business till after the fact).

I like a solid and hard shifting trans as much as the next guy, but the Level 10 trans shifted to violently the back wheels would jump off the ground at the 1-2 shift! Then, the 2-3 would flare and sometimes shift like a Caddy limousine! Couldn't get it right, then suddenly the lip seal blew out of the servo.

Ended up going elsewhere after that.
FWIW.
