Rebuildable Turbo?

This turbo is on ebay Te44. Is it worth it and how much does a good rebuild from a reputable shop cost?

Kinda hard to tell from those pictures.Description is vague also. Does it have visible wheel damage? Does the shaft move in and out? Need better details. Phil.

It would also depend on housing damage. I would ask the seller for some better pics, close ups of the wheels, housing. I've re-built stock ones, just needed bushings though. Gpopshop.com is where i bought the kit. Maybe someone who re-builds them regularly will chime in. Phil.

If the cartridge is shot "excessive play" then it's not worth it. From what i understand a cartridge is at least $ 350 on up. A standard rebuild ( assuming cartridge is good) is about $ 200-$250

The only way to do this is in person unfortunately. You grasp the nut on the compressor wheel and try to move it side to side and in and out. It should barely move, about and eighth of an inch or so max. Usually if the Compressor wheel has rubbed, its a sign of thrust bearing failure.
