Hey guys,I got a problem here.A freind of mine had his tranny rebuilt by a local school. After we installed it,it turned out great. It had a mild shift kit(too mild for him). The shift points were pretty good with them being a tad over normal. Now,he had a tranny guy install a B&M stage 2 kit.The problem is,the 1-2 shift is at 25mph(give or take)at light to moderate throttle. You know just regular driving. The 2-3 shift is non existant. On further testing,if you let the car shift into second, then let it slow to about 20 or so,then nail it it wont kickdown.I was thinking to adjust the TV cable first.I just did that and the car now shifts less hard, but the 1-2 is more to where it needs to be.But there is still no third. You only reach third maybe after 50 mph.Not even sure on overdrive.

He is pulling the tranny this weekend, and says he's gonna sell it to me for $20 bucks.I'm thinking it is a good deal because it already has had a rebuild(2 years ago,but low mileage).I was gonna have a local shop tear it down, fix anything wrong, upgrade some parts(10 vein pump,GN servo, wider band,etc....)and redo the valve body by adding a different kit;).

What do you guys think?I need to make this tranny live behind a mild 455.I wont be drag racing on a track, but plan on doing some street racing,so slicks wont be an issue.

Is this a good investment? If not then I'll only be $20 short.......

For $20 you could at least have a good core... :D Do you know what code trans it is?

nope,I dont know the tag codes yet,all that I know is that its multicase which doesnt mean much.It does have a leak though, and we cant find out where. It isnt possible for the case to be cracked?

If you do end up with it, I would get the bugs worked out before you get it rebuilt or you may be at the same point you are now, and maybe you won't even need to rebuld it then?
