Rebuilt TH400 has only forward gears

This is my 1st post so I hope I did it right. I rebuilt my 1st trans with the info over the internet and some from here. I put a transgo shift kit and all the rest stock parts in my th400. Now that I installed it, as I was trying to top off the fluid, I put it in reverse and it wants to go forward, neutral goes forward and all the forward gears work in forward. I only moved the car up about a 6 foot just trying all the gears. I got underneath and manually put it in gear with same results. All info is welcome.

it sounds like the manual valve is not engaged with the manual linkage

You were right Chris, I got it hooked up correctly today and it works. Thanks for your advice.
