red glowing manifolds??

does this indicate that the car is running rich?? when the car was running i popped the hood and noticed they were glowing. thanks

I may be way off but I would think lean. Ran my stang out of gas one time and my catalytic converters did that.

Could be rich, could be lean, but it is probably timming!Check fuel pres if it is where your chip maker likes it it could have jumped a tooth on the timming chain.

Ive pulled into my driveway after trashing on my car and the brake rotors,headers,exhaust housing and the down pipe were glowing red before. Were you just out running it hard before you popped the hood? This is normal for our cars if you were beating on it. Does it run ok or doesnt it run verry well.

well when i noticed this i had the car at about 3000spm's in park for that last 10minutes or so. i had a wrench holding the throttle open so i could find a rattling noise. only a little spot on the pass was red and the idle of the drivers sdie was red. could this have been from revving it for a while?? thanks

Ah Ha, the truth comes out. Can't be leaving details like this out when you ask for assistance. Yes, doing what you did will definately cause some "red" areas.

I was breaking in a motor at 1500-2000 rpm while tweaking on the fuel pressure and one side of the driver header started to glow. Raised fuel press up 2 psi and came back to normal.

We have done 2700RPM motor break ins for 25 minutes and the headers were so hot you could almost see through them. What you are describing is normal.
