Remote Desktop help!

Want to use remote desktop to use my laptop to connect to my office computer downstairs. Can't seem to get it to work.

I did set up my office computer to access my computer at the day job but can't seem to do the same thing in my own house!

What OS version are you hosting/trying to connect to? If it's any version of home, it won't work. You can also run VNC or ultra vnc within your home network and pull up your desktop on the same network.

My laptop is XP Professional but the desktop in my office that I am trying remote desktop access is XP Home Edition! I CAN use the desktop computer with Home Ed to access my desktop at my work but guess I can't work the other way around then???

If I go on properties it has a checkbox to allow remote assistance but there is nothing there to check for remote desktop. Guess that explains it.

RDP is only in the pro versions of their OS.

Download and try this.

Do the server install on your XP home computer and run the viewer from your other computer.

Yep.. gotta have the Pro or Ultimate versions of XP, Vista and 7 to have RD capability.
