The distributor is seized in the cover which I want to remove as it has a piece missing where the dist hold down bolt goes. I wonder if I unbolt the cover am I able to remove it with the dist still in it.
With great effort I can turn the dist but hitting it underneath with my rubber shot hammer while prying it up at the same time has not moved the dist up any amount. Thanks.

I just removed a timing cover with the cam sensor stuck in place.

In this case the roll pin in the gear was sheared and I had to remove the rest of the pin to slip off the gear for removal the cam sensor unit. If you are turning the shaft of the cam sensor, the roll pin must also be sheared?

This cam sensor is trashed as it wore down the bottom of the housing about 1/4".

This original stock engine has 90K miles and the stock cam gear had worn down so far almost no nylon teeth were left which resulted in the most chain slack I have ever seen. This my might been the cause that ruined this cam sensor?

Yep. Just pull the whole thing off as a unit.

Once you get it on the bench, you can see what you're working with.
