I installed that exact same starter about a year ago. I don't know about the new manufactured ones, but on mine the battery cable lug only cleared the tin of the endcap of the solenoid by about .050" (I never noticed it at that time) and when I reconnected the battery terminal, I must have pulled on the cable when I installed the battery end and the lug just barely touched the solenoid end cap and created an arc that I didn't see. I saw smoke, did smell something after about a half a minute and RAPIDLY pulled the cable off the battery ground side.
They were nice enough to send a new solenoid end cap!
I suspect they have gotten that feedback before.
Anyway, I put a large nylon washer and an AN washer on the stud before I reinstalled the cable. It spaces the lug higher and prevents a short later if the cable is pulled or vibrates.
