I just replaced my original A/C compressor with a new one from Savannah Auto Air...but the new compressor doesn't have a connector on the back for one of the wires...do I not hook up one of those wire connectors? there's one wire connector with a diode (sp) which has a black and green wire and that goes on the front of the compressor...

also where is the orifice tube located? I think it's located on the main line going to the accumulator coming from the condensor...am I correct?

lastly! when re-charging the system with R-12, do I need to add more oil in the system then what's already in the compressor? I accidently tipped the compressor to the side when installing and I lost some oil...how do I know how much oil to put back in? or should I even worry about it...

Thanks guys...

When I changed mine out, I had to swap the switches from the old GN compressor to the "new" generic compressor. They are held in with snap rings and come out pretty easily...

You didn't mention the drier.........you need a new one. Usually, you add a pint of oil to the system. The orifice tube is right inside the connection that runs the same way as the firewall off the drier.......not in the big line to the accumulator. Make sure you take note of which way the new one goes in when you pull the old one.

Swap in the old sensor on the back of the compressor as S-10 mentioned.

Why R-12? Have a cheap source?

thanks guys...

i did in fact replace the drier

yeah I have a good source for R-12 still around here...still not cheap though

Make sure you dry the system out by pulling vacuum on it for a good while.

A/C systems do not like moisture!
