replacing shifter handle

Santa brought me a new shifter handle. It does not include the chrome pieces.

I took off my original handle but can't get the chrome end piece opposite the button to come off. The one at the bottom of the handle was glued on but came off.

Any suggestions? Can you purchase the chrome pieces too?

It does come off. Just the chrome ring comes off. You'll need to press a small straight slot under it and gently pry it off. Must have been glued also.

If all else fails all the chrome rings are still available from GM.....

kh440 - I was hoping to hear the chrome was still out there to be had. I would just as soon get new chrome for the new shifter.

Do you have the part numbers?

I had to cut the old handle away from the rings and button. I just used a box-cutter and went to town
