Im in the process as many of you know of the Resurrection of my 86 gn It seems when I fix two things I find four more that need fixing. Im needing to replace the window motors in my buick. One barely goes down one wont do anything. They both have power but are shot. Ive heard that the inner door is dimpled where the bolts that hold the motor are,is this true? Other than locating/accessing the bolts, unbolting it and unplugging it is there anything else I need to know. I have two spare doors that are off the car I can use for a reference. It looks like you can lift the motor out of the hole on top. Thanks in advance!!

It's been a while since I did my motors. But I know I had to drill it to do it. In the dimples

Funny thing is that the doors off the car dont have them, the doors in the car does, I only found two dimples. Ill cut a small square out and see if I can access the bolts.

Hey turboterror

Do a search on replacing window motors right here in the tech thread...A guy named hesermon did a write up on how he did his with window in the down position when the motor quit...He said it only took about 30 minutes to change out even though he anicipated a days work....

Oh yes thanks for that, I just changed out one and it was really no big deal, take a cutoff wheel to the center punches, unplug, unbolt reverse. I can now roll down one window!!!!!

Yeah its not that hard to do. I got another door from an 82 Regal which had manual windows drilled out the rivets and used locking
nuts to hold the motor in to the door. Got a new motor from Nos4GN/Highway stars and it worked perfectly.

Yes well Its good I now know how to do it because now my other one crapped out! But yes you are right its not a big deal to change. Zip Zip with a cutoff wheel to expose the nuts. What the hell was the factory thinking when they did that? The window motors would never need changing?

Its faster to install a motor like that with pop rivets than bolts and cheaper is what they were thinking. I usually just drill the rivets out.
yeah after I installed the new motor on the driverside I realized how slow the passanger side was so thats next too.
