Reverse problem

I have an 87 T and the trans is acting up. The reverse stopped working all together the last time I drove it. I have not noticed any problems up until then with anything in the trans. It seems that all the forward gears are there but you have to let out on the throttle to get it to shift into the gears. That problem started at the same time that reverse quit. I don't see why reverse would just quit but that is what seems to have happened. Is there anything that I can check or have checked that may be making the trans do this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

When these units (along with the old 200 metric 3-spd.) lose reverse but still have all forward gears, it's usually a failure in the low-reverse clutch in the rear of the case. Sounds like it's time to get under that T and sling some wrenches.

Thanks for the reply. I think you are right. I took it out today and messed with it a bit to see if I could get anything to work and it wouldn't shift into 3rd now. Oh well, it is always something with the blue car!
