We in Grand Rapids can agree to this. We have been hanging out for a number of years. Recently (since the fast and the frivolous) We have been booted out of the spot that the muscle cars having been hanging out for the past 8 years. The owners don't appreciate the trash they leave, the burn out marks and their general disrespect for the property. Too bad these kids can't control themselves and prove they are worthy of shows and spots to hang out. Rather then ruin it for everyone... :(

While I am no fan of ricers and I never even watched the F&F, that town seems to be a bit uptight - they have no crusin signs all over the place.

4 years ago I posted a story about my "trip to the ricer car show".

Highlights were zero "fast" cars, a Fight broke out over the affections of an overweight high school girl and leaving the show 3 kids in a honda civic barked their fart pipe at me as they left. Imagine the drivers horror when I pulled next to that at a light 1/2 mile up the street :)

What kinda patrol cars do they drive? Ferrari?

This quote,

Elsewhere, people who had been at the show jumped on a township police vehicle, causing an estimated $1,200 damage to the hood, he said.

Damn, that's one expensive hood!!

Same basic thing happened here with "Black Spring Break". An absolute nightmare. We have huge events here all year long without a problem. These thugs show up and shut down the town for a solid weekend. The local authorities made it so unpleasant the following year that it never came back again. It all depends on the participating crowd.

I dont' think the town is uptight at all. I would have done the same thing. 90% of the ricers I run into are obnoxious (?spelling). All they are, are a bunch of street gang bangers with cars IMO. People in their turbo regals, or TTA's for that matter are for the most part a pretty classy bunch. They raise some havoc on the streets but mostly on the tracks. I know when i am crusing, I am doing just that, cruising. I don't need to make the most noise or have my radio the loudest to prove I have a nice car.

Hmmm............Seems to be a trend. "Sport Compact" will hopefully died a slow death. I for one won't miss the 4 foot wings and fartpipe equipped sticker mobiles. ;)

I agree with that part - just making an observation about the town that I noticed - "it seems" was all I was saying.

I live 12 miles from town. I use to go over in my younger cruising
days. The cruising circuit circled a square block. Traffic would
crawl for hours long into the night. That is why the signs are up.
This doesn't have anything to do with the car shows. When the
corvette show is in town they shut down the town for an all
corvette parade. There was all kinds of write ups in the local
paper a few weeks ago about the spring flea market and alot of
the locals like the shows because they make big money parking
cars on there properties. It's just when the ricers come to town
they destroy everything. My brother was at the show on Saturday
and he said it was so crowded that you couldn't look at anything.

I go to the all chrysler show every year, and never seen things get out of hand. But then again it is mostly adults and our relics from a bygone era.:p
