I need help selecting a new ring & pinion ratio. I am currently running a 3.70 in my 9-inch with a TH-400 and non-lockup converter and 28" slicks. I run through the traps at 5600+ rpm. I don't like twisting the 3.8 that tight and and also starting to see detonation even with alcohol injection. I can get a 3.25 or a 3.40 ($100 premium). I am leaning to the 3.25 and switching to 26" tires which should result in 5280 rpm. Has anyone been gone through this? Please tell me what you have used and how it worked.
