well i got my roll bar 2 days ago in the mail. its a ernie mac daniel race car fabrications. its a 6 point and i have called around and with the cage all ready being notched and a perfect fit they quoted me are 3 to 4 hundred. does this sound about right? also how many people are running the 6 point bar and do u like it. mine is the one with removable swing arms.

Why don't you go see Nick Micale. He installs those ones all of the time. He may end up costing you a little more (don't know what he charges) but at least you know it will be done right and your car won't be butchered by the installer. If I lived as close as you, Nick would be doing mine for sure.

he lives like a hour and a half away. and out here in arizona its up to 105 or so. i can drive that far. there are guys down here that install rollbars all the time i dont think there will be a probelm

No worries man. It's your choice. I just think that if I had a Turbo Buick guru within an hour and a half drive from my place I would be there in a second. I have met Nick, he knows his stuff, big time. I have even considered driving my car down from BC to Arizona to have Nick install a rollbar. When I make the final decision to install one, that option is still not out of the question. Nick has installed tons of Ernie's bars in TR's. If you want it perfect, he is the one to get.

Not to revive an old thread, but how did this roll bar fit? I finally found a guy here who will install a bar for me, and I'm curious who has found a GOOD fitting kit with the swingouts.

I had the Ernie McDaniel kit put into my T-Type a couple of years ago. Fits great and I can't say enough about the removable swing bar. I paid $450 for it so I see it's up $25. I paid the installer $200...and that was after he wanted less...lol. (I am such a good bargainer )

I was so impressed with the nifty lock system I bought 3 more sets...one for me and two for friends. Just the pair of lock thingies was $100. I had the old squish-my-fat-butt-over-the-fixed side bar removed and the the new lock thing installed on my GN. I don't think it's legal for 9's so I'll have to probably have it removed next year. Too bad...I really like it.

just fyi, you only need a 5 point bar to be NHRA legal to 9.99....the passenger side bar is not required...I have a 5 point version of Ernie's kit in my car....it fits well, but some work is still required

Any pictures of installed cage? Called ernie mac daniel they stated that the rear bar goes thorugh the speaker holes, are there any frabicated cages that avoid this location? I have seen cages at BG were the rear bar goes thorugh the rear deck on either side of the speakers, I assume that this allows one to maintain the factory speakers.

How much road noise does one get with the swingouts/bar removed??

I would like to see pics as well. Also, did you get the swingouts on both sides or just the drivers side?

Can you imagine all the grief I would get from my wife if I were to put a 6 point bar in the car without a swingout on her side?
