Howdy,

I am working on the incremental plan for getting my Riviera up to speed and I've decided to run a stock turbo (maybe a new housing or something, it'll be used) on the 4.1 with no intercooler till I have my custom one built for me. This will be step 2, step 1 is running it NA to get the bugs worked out of the motor, driveline, and ECM. With no intercooler or alky I want to keep the boost down really low so its filling in for the low compression on the V6 in the heavy car. I'm running a Deltagate II (maybe a pair) external gate and am worried about controlling it so low. Will I need a boost controller or will just a really light spring work?

Thanks,

The spring alone will work. Run a line from the compressor housing straight to the bottom side of the diaphragm to control the wastegate, and leave the top port open to atmosphere. A boost controller basically allows you to add signal air to the top of the diaphragm, adding to the spring pressure to keep the wastegate closed up to a higher boost level.

BTW, why would you run a pair of Deltagate IIs???

Having 2 wouldn't help you any but might give you boost problems. Might want to re-think that.

I have 2 in inventory, only planning on running a single though unless when I do finally step up to the DBB turbo a single won't keep it under controll.

If that is the case I'd run a Racegate or other larger wastegate before trying to run 2 smaller wastegates on a single turbo...

Where is a good place to pick up the flanges for a Deltagate? I'd like to get a flange already welded to a tube riser, makes it more convienent for me.

Thanks,
