A local pro-mod driver in the Cincinnati area died yesterday from injuries he suffered at the NHRA US Nationals a few weeks ago. Steve Engel was a hardcore racer and was even planning on building a world class facility here in Cincinnati. He already owned the land and was just waiting on the go ahead from the county. He will be missed:(

Here is a video of the wreck. I saw it in person, did not look to be a wreck that would eventually claim a life.

Thats too bad, I hate reading things about good family men and POOF its all gone. God bless his family

From what it looks like in the video, it appears the right lane car took a hard left at the finish into the wall, missing the other car. Is that what happened?
Sorry to hear about this. Best wishes to friends and family.

The video is not the best at showing what happened. We were sitting around the 330....the car looked like it got out of the groove around the 1/8th or so...looked like he was fighting it pretty good, letting out around the 1000'. Right at the line, the car took a hard left hand turn...luckily the other car was ahead of him and avoided the wreck.
