Is the Alky Control pump a bypass model of the shurflo 8000 series? I'm currently planning to use the pump with just a relay kicking it on and I was concerned that this might create too much pressure and hurt the plastic housing, or it might overheat the pump due to high load.. I used this method with an old standard 60 psi shurflo but this pump might be different.

Yup.. will draw excessive current and hurt itself in the long haul.

The 60 psi version bypasses power to pump when pressure hits 60 psi. On my pump and +12 applied using a smaller nozzles pressures over 300 psi are way possible. Not a good idea to run it like that for extended periods. Think of it as not having a rev limiter.. max ouput.
