Safety wire, did I do it right?

Doing my first upgrade that requires safety wire. Never had to do it before so I just followed instructions and did my best. Look ok or should be pulled tighter?

I don't think that is correct. The way shown won't prevent the bolt from loosening, it may just prevent it from falling out.

I see what I am doing wrong, I am not tying off on the leading edge of the bold to prevent it from turning. Ideally if it tries to loosen the wire need to be positioned so it is being “pulled”.

When you’re tying the bolt heads together it would go over the top of one on the left and under the one on the right so that any pressure on the wire would want to tighten both bolts. Hard to explain but the pics in Turbobitt’s post show it.

Does look good but in The Air Force we were told the we could only wire two bolts together at a time with safety wire.

Cut that wire off and move some bolts around. You want the wire to pull on the bolt in a tightening way.

I would have to agree. I know in the aviation world an inspector will not sign off on that.

Doing it correctly takes a lot practice. To me safety wiring is almost an art. When done right not only does it look nice, it's functional too. The link turbobitt posted above is a good place to start off with.

Safety wire done correctly should always be tightening the adjacent bolt. With .032" wire 8-10 twists per inch is the acceptable #.

Not perfect, but much better. The key it to make it have to pull the wire tight if the bolt wants to loosen, and make sure the wire can't flop over the head and render itself useless.

Socket head cap screws are easier to get right than hex heads so don't beat yourself up too bad.
