I was flipping through the channels on TV yesterday and caught a show about sandwich shops around the USA...

Man that looked mighty tasty. I started to think about a shop around my area and for the life of me I couldn't think of one that was worth the drive.

I think that's what I'm going to do when I retire drive around the country following the sandwich circuit. I think I'll start in Maine at Pat's for a lobster sandwich with onion rings and a sweet tea....:)

I guess it just goes to show it's the simple things in life after all.

I saw that exact same show and was starving at the end! Though, after I saw it I didn't want to tour the country in search of the ultimate sandwich, but instead I wanted to open my own sandwich shop! I mean, if a guy can get away with selling PB&J sandwiches and stay in buisness anybody can! BTW, I can suggest the Central Grocery in NO off of Decatur St. If you've never had a Muffalatta it's something different but good.

I wanted to go to Philly so I could order a Whiz With :D

That's just what I was thinking....;)

To be quite honest I think you could well, but I think the most important thing is that you'd have to love making sandwiches.

Just think about the crap you end up eating every day because of the lack of choice. I pretty much qiut eating lunch for that very reason, maybe a Russo's sub now and then.

Subway sucks....too much money for grey roast beef...ewwww. Publix subs are the best! That and a local joint called the Pickle Barrel. Yummy.

Now ,a lot of shops are going for profits, so they give you a foot-long with 3" thick bun on top and 3" thick bun on bottom and 1/32 thick of meat  I complained about it while watching them make it and she said , ".....we have to charge you for extra meat....." So I just said nevermind and walked out ....... $6.99 for a bread and lettuce sandwitch !!!

Where's the beef!!

:)

AHH food is such a great subject.

My favorite place is Local to Mass called KELLY's roast beef.
Worth the trip from NH.

They grille the bun with butter & pack the sandwich with hot beef & sauce.
They are on REVERE BEACh blvd north of Boston. Been there probably since the turn of time.

They tried expanding to other sites locally never as good as the original. They are open 11am to 3am for the club crowd

Yea!!!

Kelly's was on the show, and looked like a nice place to look at the beach and eat a sandwich. They said the two orginal owners were in a pub tring to decide on the name and after a few drinks named it after the bar tender...

Maybe I'll stop there after Maine...

I thought I"d try them all and if I can still get in the truck I'll end it here in Florida for some barbeque down at a little spot I know.

Don't forget to stop at Loui's Lunch in New Haven, CT.

Home of the hamburger.

Original sandwich style on two pieces of bread cooked in turn of the century, that would be 2 ago, ovens.

PS: Word of warning DON'T ask for ketchup. :D
