ok thanks for the reply. By replacing the thermostat and cat, what numbers would that fix?
It would definitely cool the engine a little better, but then again do you still have the original radiator? If so then you have another work load on your hand in having that repair or replace it with a 3 row aluminum radiator. I myself had the 87' original radiator boil, brushed included both coolers, top section resolder, and repainted. Right now the temp stays around 175* any higher the I will go into a dual fan system.

yes it still has the original radiator. And is my temperature really that far out of the good operating range? i dont want to have to replace things that i dont really have too, as much as that would be nice to have. Sounds like your car has had alot of hard work and love put into it to get it where it is today

I have seen a lot of members keeping the cooling system around 160*- 180* even in heavy traffic.
Keep in mind all radiator need to be flush by a radiator shop, and not by flushing it with a garden hose.
I driven my car for 5 years then it went to sleep for 10 years, still all original. In the past 2 years, a little time with money being tight, I have been replacing almost everything that a maintenance needs to be done, plus some more have been added. I don't have a racer car, it's a street car with some updated components for tuning purposes, and I'm still learning.

Speaking of update components, do you still have the original stock ECM chip?
Original Fuel Injectors?
The Non-adjustable fuel regulator?

From factory to tuning it correctly it does require some money. One day at a time and you will get there.

I forgot to mention to you, Nick Micale is another mentor who also sells RMI-25. I don't know if he still selling it at a great price, maybe you can PM and ask him. Look and read this for understanding this product. http://rmisource.com/

The temp is too high. Have you checked for drivers side header for cracks or leaks?

I have not checked the header for cracks yet. I assume you check by looking for smoke while the car is running? Also, yes It has original ECM chip, injectors, and non adjustable fuel regulator. If I did upgrade to an adj fuel pressure reg and Walbro pump( as many on here have told me I should) would I need to upgrade the fuel lines as well? I want to keep the car as close to stock as possible, I just can't get this car to have good fuel pressure and the fuel pressure doesnt rise with boost.
