scanmasters rpm vs. stock rpm

While driving home from work i notice that my stock rpm was reading 4,000 and my speed was at 85 and on the scanmaster the rpm was different it was reading 2670 and the speed was at 50mph.. what gives? the only thing that was changed was the computer, i got it from advanced auto would that computer change my rpm? anyone else have this problem???

sounds about normal as the stock led tachs start reading very high after awhile. What does it read at idle? One of my cars is red lined at idle, another is 5000, and the third one is about 1200-all are actually idling at 800.

Mine is way off too. Last time I checked it was around 1500-2000 high.

my idle is 1000 on the scanmaster and little of 2000 on the stock rpm gauge.. is there any way to correct this? also i threw away a very good tach because of this, i thought the aftermarket tach was off..

You thought it was idling aty 2000?

Anyway, if you want to go to the trouble, John Spina at casper's is repairing them.
