Got a really bad headache on Wednesdy morning about an hour after I got up. Went to work anyway...not talking on the way in since I ride by myself, and went straight to my office to do paperwork.
Still really hadn't said anything by this point. Went to my first meeting at 8:30 and discovered I was stuttering so bad, I literally couldn't talk. Well, then off to the ER, thinking I'm having a stroke. Had CT, MRI, angiogram, echo, ultrasound, blood tests, everything. Found I had previous brain and stroke injury. I knew about the head injuries from some serious accidents but didn't know about any strokes. Evidently this round was very very low on the "stroke scale".
Fortunately, I have no paralysis but my ability to talk is very compromised. Some people I know, won't be bothered at all by this new development!
Hope it gets better because it will make my job much more difficult plus I feel really weird when I try to talk and nothing hardly comes out right. (of course, I've always been used to a certain % to not come out right
)
I'll have to do speech therapy starting next week sometime so I am optimistic about that.
If it had been a more severe or acute episode, my waiting as long as I did probably would have caused things to turn out much more poorly.
Word to the wise fellas.....if you ever have a bad, bad headache and gobbeldy gook for language, call 911. (this is of course if the headache and nonsense from the mouth is not caused by alcohol!)
