A buddy just texted me that a guy he knows had some R-12 he was trying to get rid of.

I just bought all of it. 14 cans for $50!

I thought I was going to have to convert my car to 134a this year. Nope! Not now. :D

That is cheap. I've been buying single cans from people for $1 an ounce.

I think at this point though, demand is dropping faster than supply. Virtually no one is still running a daily driver that's old enough for it, so it's only being used up by collector cars. And more people are swapping to 134 when doing a full resto, etc.

The sad part is I remember buying it in cases at $.75 a can. I think it was about $10 out the door with tax ect.

I managed an auto parts store back in the early 80's, we sold it for .49 a can !!!
I am still looking for enough to fill mine at a decent price. I am close to converting over but I don't want too.

great score and a ton of savings being that refrigerant is sold by the lbs and r-12 is no longer available to the puplic.

My next door neighbor, HVAC tech for decades, has a full 30lb jug of it in his garage. To bad I don't need it anymore.
