People use 4 long soft shoes for better braking. If the down side is the organic compound fading when warm, Has anyone tried using 4 long semi metalic shoes ?. One can still get the benifit of more surface area for more drum contact without the fade. Would this chatter? The shoft shoes dont.

All I can say is the metallic shoes need to be hot to work effectively. The 4 long organics are for power braking on the line. There is no real advantage to running 4 longs on the street. The metallics would not work to well,if at all on the strip. And you would experience longer stopping distances on the streets. Once they are hot they work real good. I ran some metallics in the back once. They like to lock up the drums in a panic stop from moderate to high speeds. Real fun locking up the rears at 70MPH on the interstate.

well i was thinking if i did a burnout with the semi metalic 4 long shoes, i would have the additional surface area and hot shoes for the power brake. The benifit would be the need of a line lock for burnouts and fade would be eliminated.
