Could someone tell me what the sensor is for that is in the intake manifold that is almost right under the fuel pressure regulator and has 1 green wire going to it is for?

sounds like the cooling fan switch.
 
maybe thats why my fan wont turn on?? That sensor appears to be broken, looks like it has a porslin top on it?? And that broke off :(
 
if your fans dont work thats not the answer
that sensor is the high heat (overhet fan switch and will turn on the hi speed fan if coolant temps rise above 220
most cars should never see this switch function since most will have a 160 thermostat , but if your low speed fan circuit should develop a problem and the fan works it will act as a backup to prevent overheating (boilover)
