I bought her in July, blew out second gear band, waited about a month to get a replacement trans. She ran like crap under hard / full throttle acceleration, retard, retard. She almost sounded like Curly from the three stoodges when he would be freaking out about something Ayayngyayyay.

So threw some money at her not knowing much about Grand Nationals but it didnt deter my enthusiasm. Bought, an alky control to replace the antiquated SMC alky on the hobbs switch. Bought, new plugs(e3 china crap on testimonials), wires, coil pack, ignition control, lt1 maf, translator, CCCI hotwire she ran better but still stumbling from timing retarding. Replaced the knock sensor and my god running much better and knock counts down to near none. Replaced them sh-itty e3 plugs with CR42TS and gapped them at .030 and she is running like the beast I thought she would when I first bought her. I am amazed at how hard I can hammer down at any given moment now. Just wow :)

You had a bad knock sensor? I am running into the problem you described with knock...

Doesn't hurt to check that knock sensor. Kind of important;) Make sure you put the correct torque on it and don't use sealer or anything like that

They are so fun when they run good.

knock

My last pass at e-town o2 volts 850 22# pounds of boost 5.0 knock retard in 4th with converter lock up static fuel presssure 46# 62# with 22# of boost any thoughts? also tap test confirms sensor is detecting knock if sensor was bad no knock would be detected with motor that fat I would expect no knock retard mph was 114 what gives??? I think i am going to call otto let him dyno it pick his brain:confused::biggrin:

is it possible that the knock test checks ok and it maybe pulling to much timeing out still (perhaps false reading) just curiouse for future refernce.

fuel

Can someone tell me what the safe zone is for fuel pressure at wot? is it around 60#? im running 009 inj.,high vol. pump, ta49 and pressure at idle line off 43 #? Im getting ready to do some other mods was just going to do a test run for kicks!

Rule of thumb is 1 lb fuel for every pound of boost. that's plus base.

fuel pressure

thanks for the info. thats good to know and nice car by the way! Im also going to send you a pm
