A guy where I work has one of these I was just wanting to get some info. He claims it came factory with n.o.s and runs 11.65 dead stock. Seams like a load of BS to me but I hate to say he is full of it before I know. Been serching for info but can find no preformance numbers. Does anybody know anything about them or where I can get some info. On another note purchaced a 87 GN last weekend and going to pick it up next Sat. It has a hurt motor he had in storage for 4 years and when he took it out for first time it was running bad so he stands on it to clear it out. Well bang and smoke out of pipes. Car is very strait and clean original paint and in great shape. Will pull motor and see how bad then decide if I will pull motor out of my 86 and put in it. I was going to sell my 86 as a parts car but I think I will hang onto drive train for backup. Andy Hicks

I dont know too much about them except that each car was made to order, so theoretically the original owner could have ordered NOS on it....

There is a guy in my area that has a 96 model boss. He just put a paxton blower on it running 8 psi and he can't get it to break out of the 14's on drag radials. It is a very clean and rare car but not an 11 sec. factory car. Ford may have offered different performance packages for this car but a Factory nitrous set up is highly unlikely.

I don't believe that that car was produced at the factory level. It was an aftermarket type car. It was a sticker and spoiler car as I remember too. What you friend was talking about was the prototype that Ford cobbled up that was powered by a genuine BOSS engine from 32 years ago/ It was NEVER made with that engine.
Here, I found a link..

Was no more a factory car than a Yenko Camaro. It was an aftermarket vehicle.

BIG difference.. The Boss is a sticker package that you put on.. Standard Mustangs. Even non v8 Mustangs. The yenko was VERY special. It started out as a COPO vehicle with VERY special drivetrain and was converted to a Yenko SC at Don Yenko Chevrolet in Cannonsburg Pa. The Boss is a what ever you put the stickers on..

Damn, I can step on toes even when I don't try to I guess. I am aware of the specifics of a Yenko. I was just trying to relate that it was an aftermarket enhancement, not a vehicle on an equal standing. Besides, I would have given both cookies to have a Yenko. Was just a loose analogy though. Mark :D

They were like @ssholes in the carolinas, they were everywhere. We called them "Boss of what?'s".

Its just an appearance package and I never saw one run quicker than 14's.

nooooooo Mark. You did not step on toes man.. I was just trying to clear up the analogy that you made.. Im not like that :) :)
Yenkos are *special* Boss Mustangs are not..

Previous posters are right it's just a sticker package. I've seen em selling at the Mustang shows. They aren't that special....

Now, the Boss Mustangs of 69-71 were special. 429s, 302, and 351s...

real story

I finally got the real story from the guy. The car has over 3,000 in the heads major block work bored .30 over. 3 stage N.O.S Supposidly putting on super charger and intercooler this winter to go with the N.O.S. Wants to have 9 sec street legal car. Says it runs 11.60 now at 122 with 1.68 short time. His words car is mph like a ten sec car. I tell him get that short time down where it should be and that mph will drop.

Thanks for the help and info. I cant wait to get my 87 so I can work on motor and drive a GN again it has been almost 2 years.

Andy
