Ok so here it goes...

My T-Type that I have been slowly building my T-Type (the one in my avatar) since 2007 and I wrecked it. The engine and tranny and various are still in great shape but the left rear is smashed. I spoke to the claims adjuster today and pretty much begged him for almost 3 days straight not to total my car.

I also have a 47K GN which is for sale on this board. It's un-molested with the exception of the a/c being changed over to 134 and a scan master. Well if they do total my regal, I was considering swapping out my tranny and engine from the regal into the GN. The Engine is very well built and the tranny was built by Don Wange out of Santee California. Mechanically the T-Type was a beast.

Ok so if you where my shoes would you install the built engine and tranny into the original GN? I thought having a low mile original GN was cool for the first few months but looking back i rather have a high mileage GN that i could just drive and not care how many miles it has.

What would you guys do? Would you molest the GN?

I molested my GN if that's any help. I wanted fast, and stock wasn't cutting it. I never looked back and love the car.......

Buy a plain Jane regal and put your drive train under it

Yep. What James said. Show pics. His job is tearing them down and parting them out. If he says fix it, then fix it. Make sure you get pics of the frame.

D

Id say total the regal and take drivetrain. Youre not molesting it.if its a simple swap why not. Now if wanted to ditch ac etc then I wouldnt hack up gn. See if you could even buy it back from the wrecker strip it seel parts or keep as extra. End of day swapping motors etc is not going to kill ypur gn. As long as you can keep both motors..

Didnt you just get hit in the rear Quarter panel?-There's a 86 regal at the "pick a part". Clean white Panels on it. Just cut them off. The whole cab is almost spotless.

So other than the hood, tranny, and engine a N/A regal is the same as a Turbo Regal? Suspension, brakes, etc etc are all the same? I'd like to sell my GN before I leave overseas for work for a few months, find a nice roller and swap everything in if they salvage my car. I rather just fix it but my paint was so bad.

Fix it. No wiring harness, fuel lines, rear end, ECM . There are differences . Theres is work but can b done.Or how much u want for it? Lol

I'm trying to convince the claims adjuster not to total it but I need ammo. I would like to fix it and this has happened to me before and it was easily fixed. I actually bought the part from James (Hey there James thanks again). I leave to Dubai in three weeks so if I could get the claims adjuster to give me the green light to fix I would work out the logistics and have a point of contact here in the states.

I don't recall but I believe the tires are 315. I think the rim are welds 5 star or something like that. They are really light.

James what do you say, fix or or move on? I believe this is fixable and im speaking from experience. I just need to somehow convince the claims adjuster not to trash it. He will give me a low ball amount because the paint is pretty bad (his words when describing the paint). I tried to look the value up on KBB but the years stop at 90 or 93. I have no clue how to get an idea of the KBB value of the car. the odometer has 85K and its a WO2. Thinking about all the money I dumped in this car and the years I've spent slowly getting it up to par (about 30K so far) and now its there is a slight chance that its going to get canned sucks pretty bad. If anyone can give me some ammo to convince the geico claims adjuster not to can it I would appreciate it.

I tried to charm him on the phone (it got pretty awkward in a gay sense). He likes the car so I told him to start it and hear it idle. A small crowd gathered at the collision shop because they liked the car so much. I know im going off on a tangent here but I just wanted to show that i'm trying my best to not have this car trashed.

NADA and Hagerty are where you can look the value up for the car. Hagerty will be higher than NADA so if you take the 2 highest and then average them it should give you some idea.;)

I'll take a look at it and try to pick it up this weekend. Do you happen to know which pick your part location?

It looks fixable as long as the roof isn't kinked. How does the frame look? It looks like it just needs a quarter. I would talk to tony Luke he's somewhere like Chicago . Look up the Curts pearl white ???? It was in the resto section. He did a real nice job on saving that car and that one was hit on the door jamb. If your in love with the car and its not a rot box like we have up north here normally I say fix it

The only thing rotted on this shell is the driver floor pan. I'm gonna cut it up in the next day or 2 so if your interested let me know and I could cut it up anyway you want. I obviously can take better pics if your interested
