Is it me or should there be a sticky stating that if you choose to sell a part off ur car that it is MANDATORY to list an asking price?

I think so.

In fact *I think* mandatory in any sale should be :

Price
Location
Pics

I believe it's mandatory in the cars for sale section , It should also be mandatory in the parts section . If you don't wan't to post a price put em up on e-***

X4 Brett. I even had a guy offer me parts at a good price and when I tried to get payment info off of him he upped the price and sold it to someone else. That's just wrong.

Price and location should be mandatory. Pics are great but not everyone can do them. I dislike the fishing adds that start with "what do think it's worth". That's BS.

I agree !!!! If there's no price we must assume that they are free, plus shipping, of course.

Price
Location

I know several boards have had people steal other peoples ads, pics etc. Kinda like the ebay scams. The LS2GTO board requires you to write your screen name and date on a piece of paper and put that in the pictures of your parts.

While I can relate to the "what's it worth" stuff, alot of folks do not know what the value of their stuff is....they don't want to get ripped off/give it away....and they don't want to price it so high no one bites. (usually)

You could put it on eBay with a reserve to your liking to see what it brings but from what I've gathered most shy away from parts with a reserve unless it's a high dollar item. Plus listings w/o a reserve and a low starting bid generate the most interest HOWEVER it doesn't always mean it's going to bring what it should....which is essentially a gamble.

As far as posting pics, it's now so easy a child could do it. But as I have also found, stuff with pics sells better.

Just my 2 cents worth.

It's easy to find the current market value of parts. Just scan the recent adds and Ebay. If you agree that's what a part is worth, sell it for that. If you think it's worth more try it at a higher price and see if you get bites. If you really need to get rid of something then be prepared to price it right for the current market.

I kinda always felt like that "Whats it worth" ads are more of a show and tell game. to stroke ones ego...

One person called and asked for my help to sell a GNX, whats it worth? and where to sell it... I said I can post online here at TB.com...

well I posted it and he was thinking of selling for around $65,000, the next day, I see it posted on ebay for buy it now $85,000 and he was worrried about the GNX market selling too low or too high... buy it now was reduced from 85, to 78, now to 71,000 and still for sale...

Why do people want to sell, then mark it up so it DOESN'T SELL...

why do you think I help people with Buick stuff, its not for the money...

However in this market, sometimes people don't know the true value, so they sell it high...

Well if it's the case of eBay, sometimes I think people (again) are fishing to see what it's worth so they set the price high to see how much interest they can generate.

Heck I've considered throwing my car on eBay for a reseve of $30,000....which I know isn't worth it but if some fool really wants to buy it now for $30,000....he can have it.

Just my 2 cents.

EXACTLY !!!!!

I brought this same idea up a few months ago in a thread......got great response from everyone 'cept the so-called mods.......

.......they should ban people from posting in "parts wanted/for sale" unless you give a location and dollar figure.........it'll never happen........

Yes it should be mandatory unless parting entire car. If parting out the seller should be required to list the price after someone openly asks the price. If not the thread should be terminated since this is not f'in ebay. Quick 6 in KC did not agree with me when i rec'd this several mos. ago.

+1, Definatly pics..............Good Pics
Pics are a problem if anyone is using a late digital camera since the server that you upload to sucks balls and wont allow most pics because of the size. Its a PIA to re-size pics.
