Now I see why my speed density set-up is so slow, I still have the 3" piping and no cold air set-up, just a pipe over to a k&n cone filter....

you do not need 4" to be fast. I ran 3" with my FAST setup until just recently. A 3" pipe straight to an underhood filter will take you a LONG way! Probably can make more power than your block can handle.
In all honesty, I went with 4" because it just looks better. I wasn't having any trouble with the 3"

My car went 10.12 with a TT Chip the stock MAF w/ no screens and a 3" Kenne Bell S inlet pipe. Here's a picture of the old motor.

Yea, I know, there has been debate if the cold air actually helps at all, because once the car is moving the air temp gain being lower is minimal.... plus something about the extra curves in the pipe and air flow..... but, the bling factor, it does look nice.
