I see sig lines in threads are now, for the most part, taking up more space than content, and I have to think that all the BW loading the pages adds up ($$$ wise) with so many hits per month. So how about this, we start a thread for elaborations on combinations and equipment, photos, etc., and then link that posting under the much more simplified sig line. Take a look at this as what I'm talking about: The -=Official=- gear-list / Sig thread - Canon Digital Photography Forums

You would still have a sig line, but it is significantly minimized.

I just find it much easier to get through threads. Thoughts??

Hey buddy,

Click my garage in my sig... I kinda didnt write much about my cars, but is that what your talking about? (other than the picture)

The garage is a place you can take your pics, upload them from your home computer, and i think you can post those pics right into your sig.

People can reply there, kinda like a whats in your garage community??

I just kinda put my garage in my sig for everyone to view.

Took the pics in downtown kansas city.

Oh, i forgot, just click the dyno sheets and those are pretty much the only ones i talked about.

Hey Bryan. That's sorta what I'm talking about, but not quite far enough.

Not to pick on anyone in particular, but just as an example, your sig. I like the links, and it is a great looking car with impressive performance, but with the pic it is ~75% of my monitor display... twice.

Ah well, the issue is no biggee for most, apparently. Maybe I'm just turning into a bitter old man. Since the idea has gone over like a brick, I'll just let this thread die.

Headin' back under my rock...

I've seen some BB's that have the ability in your user profile to actually turn off multiple sig postings.

IE... you'd see their sig in the very first post for that thread, but it would'nt show up in any subsequent posts by that user in that thread.

You also have the ability to turn off Sig's alltogether in your user CP.

I would favor reduced or more discrete signatures.

I have a 15 Mbps fiber optic internet connection, and often it is still annoying waiting for all the clutter to load.

It is an individual user option to turn off everyone else's avatars from displaying. I've done this to further reduce the distracting clutter , while perusing the forum.

Wow, I didn't realize that! Avatars and images are gone!

I saw in User CP / Edit options that if you want to not have the sig show at all that you could do so by un-checking "Show Signatures", but personally, I prefer to have the sig line. When responding to a particular person's post, if a name is given, I typically use their actual name rather than their handle as a show of respect.

Thanks for the info,

Dean

Brian I think they don't like your signature ;)
Rotate the Blue Limited in that I like the wheels on so much so people will see something different every month :D
BTW way when you selling me that blue limited that you got out from under me  :D

:D

That's why I like it here... folks don't (usually) get bent outta shape! Thanks for the laugh!!

Dean

p.s.: Yes, you are forgiven. :)

IMO, a sig line gives creditials on what advice someone is giving. As for bandwidth, I think all pictures in signatures are hosted on a separate website like photobucket.

Quick6'n'-K.C.; That was great, bet that took a while to type!

BWEAVY, i just called ya, got the answering machine..... I thought i had your cell #???? You want the blue car in my sig in place of the white car, i can do that for you no problem.
You just have to put my car on your site for everyone to know that those wheels are the ones you made and that its my car. Its turning out to be a pretty nice car i guess

Here is one that you never saw before, Bristol 2000 my silver daily driver and the blue car i was zoned in to purchase.
This is the blue car with the old wheels, now it has your wheels and yes that is my silver limited with the blackout trim.

There is a rosewood limited with 114K with burgandy int, in PA.. Its cheap.
Just got off the phone, i told him to call you. <---- serious

Oh, you didnt go there!

That was my first inclination, but i read it twice and knew what was the real problem. It was operator error, ya see, when you subscribe to a forum, you should be able to click any and every button and know what you are doing.

HAHAHAHAHAH!

Sometimes it just takes a member here to let everyone know how to view every page as they want to. I had forgotten about the ability to not view the sigs... i would have said that in the first post. j/k

Man it was a good friday
