I have had a set of single layer head gaskets for years and I am thinking of using them in my 3.8 build. Any advice befor I use them, good or bad.

Leave them on the shelf and get some Cometic gaskets. They are multi-layer SS. Also get some ARP studs.

I would not run them since RJC has a much superior single layer stainless steel gasket that is way less finicky than a Cometic mls gasket. Ive run them hard for a long time.

Steel shims work well into the nines. I would double them up, but I've used single before. Just need to re-torque the heads every once in awhile.

Are you refering to the stock OEM GM steel shim gaskets?

Well, I am no expert, but if you decide not to use them, PM me with a price.
