i have the ATR's also...love the sound, and have a cut out for the track.....not really worried about weight....how much could it weigh?

The difference between duals and a single shot is 20 lbs. There aren't many inconsequential things you can remove from the car to save 20 lbs. But weight wasn't really a primary consideration for me. First was the fact that no one makes a decent 3" dual STAINLESS system these days.

Some dude from Va Beach gave all that good info ;) you probably know him. His wife drive a pretty clean white t-type. The tranny is shifting really good and the car is running way much better. Thanks for the quick fix. Is kinda hard now to stop driving the car, even with the gas prices going up.

hay grumpy, what type of mufflers are you running? i know you may not like telling your secrets ;) , i just got my car back and i don't want to make the mistake of installing mufflers that will bogg me down, i'm hopeing to go low-low 10's or high 9's any advice will be appreciated.

they are Dynomax... she needs new one's to  Ill get the # off of them for ya

single exhaust

I'm running a single 3.5" exhaust from the turbo to the tailpipe and a DNA 27" long muffler. The car sounds like a small block at idle, but when you put your foot in it all you hear is the turbo. But it is very loud and poppy when cruz-n-.

Custom? Because I can't find any 3.5" single systems. About to order the piping to make my own.

I'm running dual 2.25 pipes thru a pair of Flowmasters, but I think in the future I'm going to remove all of that and run a 3 inch single exhaust thru a Dynomax Ultraflow muffler. I'm all after a free flowing exhaust to let the engine exhale and get the most hp/tq.

Yes it is custom. If you make your own I would run the DNA mufler, they sound verry good, have not heard a V6 sound this good. I will get some video of my car and send it to you if you will like.

To clarify, DNA mufflers are not straight thru/free flowing. You may be able to see from one end to the other, but they have spiral internals which create turbulance to alter the exhaust tone. They are however, very well constructed. Brian

Yes, and they sound verry good. And are 95% free flow-n.

I thought I'd update my reply to this thread with new information: the 3" single-shot system didn't work out for me. Turns out the people I ordered it from didn't have it in stock and couldn't tell me exactly when they expected to get it.

Instead, I put Cotton's 3" system on the car with the Magnaflow SS "Wide Open" mufflers. They are a straight-thru design, though the mufflers have an offset inlet/outlet. They sound VERY nice. My previous mufflers were auto-parts-store variety "Turbo" mufflers ($18 each). The Magnaflows have more bass but give it a more throaty sound at the same time (hard to explain, but I like it).

From what I was told, Cotton's system is made locally in MA and the quality of the steel seems to be top notch.

The system took some wrestling with but it's more because there are so many ways to rotate the pieces that dramatically affect the alignment of things rather than the system itself.

I had so many exhaust leaks before I embarked upon this project that the GN seems like a brand new car now (everything is new from the turbo back).

Do you have any pics of your setup?

I tried to take pics but they came out crappy. Digital camera tries to focus on all the stupid snowflakes coming down right now.

Here's a sound clip/vid:

I stall it by putting it in reverse about 50 seconds in. It's a 'feature' of the Vigilante converter when the engine is cold. There's obviously still exhaust leaks - if you watch closely you can see the shiny mufflers changing color from hot air hitting them like when you breathe on a mirror. I think I need to tighten those clamps.

You are running duals right? Sounds good and cant wait to see pics.

Yes duals. If it ever stops snowing I'll snap some pics, but it's looking grim for today since it's getting dark.

EDIT: Here's the only pic I got. It looks like the right muffler is a little lower than the left but it might be the angle. It all tucks up there better than my Torque Tech system did, probably due to my cheap, but large, mufflers. These Magnaflows are nice and small.

Mine is a custom (I made from bends and straight 304 stainless ) with ultraflows. Flows good and has a nice sound. Somewhat quiet but I like the stealthyness of the car.
