Ok, the car has 114k miles on what appears to be an original turbo. the car doesn't smoke, but the intercooler hoses are getting soaked in oil. it's coating the throttle body, and there is a slight play in teh turbo shaft, feels like worn valve guides. no oil out the exhaust though. will a new center section fix this?

In what time period?.
If they've never been cleaned in 114K miles, then I wouldn't worry. If you did a spring cleaning 4 months ago, and they're that way, I'd start saving.

i just cleaned them in september. Not really wanting to upgrade turbo at this time though. centers aare available for like 250

I think Postons stock replacement turbo is about $350. I have one and it works great, has about 15k on it, nice tight shaft
