Got a problem with the trans in a freinds car, doesn't know a whole lot about these cars and he asked me if I could look at it.

Well....... trans slips like crazy when it warms up. From cold it seems ok, goes into gear firmly, shifts ok. As it starts to warm through (don't know temps, no gauge) it starts to slip in all gears untill eventually there is hardly any drive at all. This is after around 20 minutes normal driving.

Fluid level is good, smells ok, good clean red colour. TV cable is adjusted ok and adjustments don't help once it starts slipping, just hangs onto each gear longer.

I'm gonna get a gauge onto the trans as soon as I can and record some pressures, but in the mean time is there anything obvious that I can check, I was thinking maybe a torn gasket on the valve body, internal leak etc. The trans has had work recently by a so called expert.

Did a bit of research, but didn't come accross anything definate to do with heat related pressure drop (if this is what it is).

I've got an uneasy feeling that I'm gonna get deep into this thing, but any initial ideas would be appreciated.

Any ideas or advice always welcome.

Thanks,

Ian UK.
