Slow VDO boost guage

does anyone have a slow acting VDO boost guage? i noticed a brass air filter in the guage inlet. i think it may be plugged. i tested the guage on a pressure calibrator at my work. the guage is accurate, but slow even on the calibrator.
has anyone tried to pull out the filter?

I think they are a damped meter movement. Perhaps slow moving due to their design.

I didn't modify mine but found it was 1.5 psi. off from a real calbrated gauge. Never noticed or touched any screen in mine.
