Smelling oil on the highway, not in town

The knock you saw "could" be from the tires spinning. Something like the downpipe hitting the A arm or exhaust pipe clanging might be happening. Jack the car up and shake the pipes and see if any are loose and hitting.

Well I guess you're right. I have three 78 Trans Am's, a 1968 Barracuda and a 79 CJ5. They all leak oil why should this car too. :)

On the bright side this car doesn't have a rear main seal leak yet.

Didn't think of that? I noticed when I spin the tires through first into second the rpm's will peak a little higher between shifts. Doesn't do it when the tires are planted. I have 275 DR so I have to spool it up from a stop to light them up. Otherwise it's stick and go.

Now this morning I get in the car to drive to work and the Alky red light is on all the time. My system is a Razer set up so there is a small red light and a green light in the HVAC bezel. The red light never stayed on before. I'll have to read up on that. Never mind it's a low tank warning light.
