smoke at start up

fresh motor with 1000 miles. After i drive it and it sits a few minutes, it will smoke and i smell oil at start up. I have stock heads but i did put viton seals on the intake and o rings on the exhaust. Could it be a valve seal?

Mine was a bad turbo seal in one of my cars. Always had a little smoke on startup.

take off the valve cover and see if the seals are up on the valve stem

Sounds like exhaust valve stem seals if it only smokes on start up. I use to leave them off on some of the engines I've built.

These cars don't have exhaust seals on them unless the machinist cut the guides for them and replaced the valve with some that can be used with seals.

they were in the package, may as well use them.
