no doubt. God help you if you try to sell jewelry! It sucks

Jewlery has to be the worst thing ever to sell
REASONS:

1) dealing with women
2) you cant try it on if selling it on ebay
3) women love to buy & return

I sold an item on ebay after a few weeks the lady wanted to return it. I told her resell it on ebay.

I have never met so many people who don't own a digital camera & yet they try selling stuff on CL

The company I work for had a 6 liter engine core to get rid of last week, so a buddy listed it on CL, got like 14 calls in the first two days, 3 or 4 said they'd be up right away to get it, no one ever showed. I listed it on this site, had two interested parties, and one of those two people picked it up and paid in cash yesterday. :) I had to rub it in today.

Craigslist and ebay

I've sold on both and prefer cl, sure u'll get a certain amount of tirekickers on cl but if it's a good item u should be able to sell relatively easily. As far as jewelry I use a jewelry dealer. Then again I don't sell my gold as it'll only hold it's value when the economy is bad. Within the ladt 6 years it's gone from roughly 4-500 an ounce to 1200 an ounce. Best investment is gold if u ask me.

i sell a ton of stuff on cl and i buy a bunch on there too.there are a ton of tire kickers everywhere / on this site / swap meets / craigslist / ebay/ etc.....
it is just part of the game .

Yes. It's something you have to expect and just ignore. Maybe it's time to just get a regular second job than run your self ragged selling stuff, Steve.

my problem was none of the above:
It was with scammers. People who were out of the country, but was coming back and wanted the item shipped to Kalamazoo and wanting to pay with generic-pal. You could tell it was someone who didn't speak English well because they dang sure couldn't type it.

What bothers me the most,is when a seller doesn't,include a phone number,I have come to realize to avoid those guys...why in the world would someone trying to sell something want to talk via e-mail?Selling? it is true about tire kickers anywhere you sell, but being free, its worth it..

100% correct

I don't know that I feel comfortable posting my number on a public craigslist ad, but once you reply to me by email I can provide it to finish a deal.

And to the OP's original question: you can also try the classifieds section from local newspapers although I find there is less stuff to be had there.

wife sells jewelry.....

on Etsy.com
its for hand made items only
has good luck there.

Ebay, I love the privacy ... and even if I have to take a $50 loss ... chances are I made over $50 more by nationwide coverage ---

AGREED Better to get the stupid emails & see if one gives a number for you to call up.
