Hey guys just want to share some knowledge with you working on a 87 GN today and it had symptoms of a vacuum leak( high idle iac 0 etc) so start looking at vacuum lines plenum gasket every possible item we checked
As we were replacing the throttle body gasket we noticed the throttle blade was slightly bent
Creating symptoms of a vacuum leak,so we bent the blade back straight as we could put it back on using the same gaskets plenum etc and iac went back to normal and idle dropped to normal range 850/950 .
1st pic you can see light coming through
2nd slight bend.

Is that a Steve Monroe ported throttle body? How would it get bent like that?

*****I had a vacuum leak once that I traced to the throttle body axle that the blade hooks up to. The car had 80,000 miles. I bought a rebuild kit that had these O-ring like gaskets from a vendor and was amazed at how much smoother my idle got. I sprayed a bit of throttle body cleaner around while looking at a vacuum gauge with the engine running. Found the throttle body leak as well as a cracked t-fitting. Perhaps something else to consider if you still seem to have a leak after bending the blade, etc...

Contact Steve Monroe, tell him what happened and see if you can get a fresh blade.
