fmic

what size turbo and boost are you going to be running? Pick something that will work in the range of where you are going to be at. If you go hunting for rabbits you would not want to use a tomahawk cruise missle. Same as for intercoolers. I like the units that gbody has for street cars and also know a few guys running 9's here in florida running on cottons and precisions fmic. Good luck.

actually i never really heard any complaints on either of your choices , there all way better than a stock unit,,,, i have a precision , my bro has a cas i think! basically 40 hp gains

I love the RJC fmic i got - great fit and finish - great service - great price - will have times as soon as i get my new turbo and spring comes.... but i drove to Indy over the summer no problem - cool temps - like i said love it. HTH

Go with the RJC unit.

Price is steep, but man it is a real nice peice. I think my wife could have done the install by herself. Most importantly it looks badd-ass and the chicks will dig it! ;)

Jack Cotton builds and sells a killer front mount I/C!

I'm in the process of installing my new GBodyParts.com FMIC and it looks great. It's just another one of Brian's top notch products and dedication to our cars.

Rjc Fm

Nice intercooler and is a breeze to install..it has the performance to go with it too:) times in sig is the first time down the track with soft launch.....Bob

save the money, do some elbow work, a few hours, and a few beers. PSFM all the way!

Power Stroke Front Mount; few guys in the 9's last time I checked with these. I had posted an ebay PSFM for sale a few weeks ago, it sold for $100 bucks! Your going to spend more on hoses, clamps and piping compard to the cost of the intercooler.

Have a Duttweiler front moun. All clamps. To hook up.
Not sure if it's what you are looking for.

All of these

Work....but you better pick one that is INline with the goals you want...if you want a budget 11 second cruiser, I would go with the CAS or Precision Front Mount...If you want that ten second at the track but 11 second daily driver, I would go with the Cotton, if you are super-serious and see yourself growing into the 9's or bottom tens at some point I would go with the RJC at some point...

Just my opinion...nothing more nothing less....
Good Luck,
Steve Chambers

the $100 PSFM is currently enough to push a few TB.com members into the 9's. After I get a t66 trubo I'll be in the 10's w/mine, n I cut 4 rows off of it.

Its the cheapest, and would be the BEST CHOICE for an 11's car if you ask me. THERE IS NO NEED TO SPEND A GRAND ON A Front Mount for an 11's car, or even a 10's car. But thats just my opinion. You have to remember, that the PSFM was from f350 truck, those bad boys push 35+ PSI STOCK! I will never see anything past 30PSI EVER in my grand national and that with a t66! So you can do the math, Im not a rocket sciense teacher, but I can make a hypothesis. And my hypothesis is that the PSFM will be fine for our little v6's, compared to the v10 35+psi f350 it comes from. Just think about it.

You can spend $1000 on a PSFM and get a tranny shift kit, and a converter 3200-3600 and some suspension mods! For an 11 second goal, $1000 IS A CRAP LOAD OF MONEY! You can get many more usefull parts then a $1000 IC. And unless you have enventual plans of going faster then 9's, the powerstroke front mount will do just fine.

PS intercooler

Correct me if I'm wrong...but don't you have to modify (cut up) the radiator support area to get the powerstroke to fit in there?

I don't think many people are willing to do that, probably why not too many are using one...

Sucks to hear people are afraid of two very small 3" holes which are cut into material less then a few mm thick which they can't even see rofl. A complete amatuer could do this at home. Even though the cuts effect nothing, and would never be notcied unless people looked for them specifically. People are still afraid of it you are definitly correct though. But you can't even see the cuts, the cuts are under the headlight bezels. In fact the piping installation is better looking and more efficent, in my opinion then other FMs. Because of the mimimal bends and curves within the pipe, and where the inlet and outlets actually connect to the pipe, all seem to be best on the PSFM. the 3" in/out lets both point towards the motor, not away from it, or pointing out to the left and right. But again this is just my opinion.

But I still understand your point somewhat, people dont wanna cut anything this is absolutly true. But, its not like i "CUT UP" my car rofl, 2 small holes is far from a frame notch I can tell you that much! I wouldn't consider cutting 2 small holes in my car to be cutting up my car at all. But ill stop posting up, The original subject didn't even include the PSFM. Thought I would offer a "best performance" type of suggestion to answer his questions, which is what I interputted the thread to be. I just think that for the dollar, the PSFM has the best performace anyone can get out of a FMIC.

just my 2 cents, and I got them in so I'm happy, good luck picking a FM. Darkside

I didn't realize you only had to cut 2 holes to make it work. In that case I don't think it would be considered "cutting up" a car. Thanks for correcting me on that. For some reason I remember reading a long time ago that you had to "hack up" the front end (not my words) to get it to work. I guess it's no worse than putting in a roll cage. I should have said that for guys who plan on selling their cars and want to go back to stock easily, then they may not want do the PS.

PM'ed you with a small write up on it, and how the install worked for me. Heres the basics. If your not afraid of any of the following, this is the IC for you!! Soon as I get a t66 Ill be yet ANOTHER GN with a PSFM thats 10's or faster!

Things needed;
1. PSIC
2. Sawzaw to cut inlet outlet access holes.
3. Stock radiator, unless you want to move the battery in trunk
4. Welder for aluminum IC and IC pipes
5. Hoses and clamps (for w/e size pipes you have)
